Conservative MP Dominic Grieve insisted that Boris Johnson was “mistaken” on the mood of Tory MPs when the leadership hopeful claimed that Tory MPs would back a no deal Brexit “if they had to”. He added that himself and at least 15 other Tory MPs would be willing to put “country over party” and prevent a no deal Brexit, even if this meant losing power. He told BBC Newsnight: “I think Boris is seriously mistaken about that.
“No deal is catastrophic for the country, not just about the economic relationship but about the national security implications, losing access to the shared databases which protect us.
“It is an absolute deal breaker as far as I’m concerned and I think you will find that there are numerous other Conservative members of Parliament that share that view.
“Of course if he wishes to renegotiate it is a matter for him, whether he can succeed once he becomes Prime Minister is another
