As reported by CNN, Special Counsel Mueller is reluctant to testify but was served a subpoena by House Democrats looking to impeach President Trump. The House of Representatives has the power to impeach the POTUS on a limited number of offences, a trial is then held in the Senate with a two-thirds majority required to remove Mr Trump from office. Mr Mueller will testify on July 17th, despite saying in a press conference: “Any testimony from this office would not go beyond our report. The report is my testimony. I would not provide information beyond that which is already public in any appearance before Congress."
Mr Mueller ran an investigation into the allegations and despite concluding that Russia helped the Trump campaign, he was unable to find evidence to prove conspiracy or obstruction of justice, but also insisted his findings did not exonerate him and in the report gave several examples where Mr Trump may have obstructed justice.
Alana Abramson, Congressional Correspondent for Time Magazine, tweeted that “Dems don’t expect Mueller to go beyond his report” either.
