Brexiteer Steve Baker is an ally of Tory leadership frontrunner Boris Johnson and as a team both men could be well suited when up against Brussels negotiators due to their similar stances on Brexit.

Speaking to Express.co.uk recently, the MP for High Wycombe said the UK will be leaving the EU on October 31, mirroring recent comments made by Mr Johnson that “come what may” the nation will be unshackling itself from the bloc on Halloween.

He said: “Michel Barnier should be in no doubt whatsoever that we are going to leave the EU, with or without a withdrawal agreement, on October 31.”

Prominent Tory backbencher and Brexiteer Jacob Rees-Mogg has also thrown his support behind Boris Johnson and has called for the UK to leave the EU on WTO terms.

He previously said: “There is a realistic prospect for the Conservative Party – as long as we leave on October 31. That is the key.

“I think Mr Hunt is a formidably able man. He is highly intelligent and was a very good secretary of state for health.
