On the day she succeeded the Queen as patron of the Royal Photographic Society, a post the 93-year-old monarch has held for 67 years, Kate was in a workshop with children from one of her charities. The Duchess, a keen amateur snapper whose portraits of her children have become iconic, collaborated with youngsters from the Action for Children charity as part of a scheme aimed at helping their confidence and self-expression. At Warren Park Children's Centre in Kingston, south-west London, she showed off her technical skills. Kate, 37, became patron of Action for Children in December 2016. Her new patronage, founded in 1853 and one of the world's oldest photo societies, presented 10 cameras to 10 of the children.
