US taking 'very close look' at Putin's warship as vessel 'heads to Venezuela'

The Russian President was accused of antagonising Washington as the Admiral Gorshkov – one of the country’s best vessels – paid a two-day visit to Havana, Cuba, earlier this week. The frigate, capable of carrying missiles that could hit the US within six minutes from Havana, had the US Navy scrambling after it turned up in Cuban waters in what many believe to be a show of strength from Putin. Having sent a US Navy ship to shadow the Admiral’s every move, however, US President Donald Trump may be further on edge when he hears that the warship is on its way to Venezuela.

It is now reportedly refuelling in Trinidad and Tobago – which is less than seven miles off the north east coast of Venezuela.
