The plans for a private ceremony at St George’s Chapel is in keeping with their wish to raise Archie as a private citizen, shielding him from the media spotlight. The news will come as a disappointment to many royal fans, with Piers Morgan condemning the plans in a raging on Twitter, which appears to mock the royals’ plan to raise him as a private citizen.
Piers Morgan, who has been a vocal critic of Meghan Markle since their wedding, tweeted: “Private citizens don’t get £2.4m of home improvements paid by the taxpayer.
“This baptism should be public - or the public should get their money back.”
The Good Morning Britain presenter made reference to the news that the public has paid £2.4million towards the renovation of Frogmore Cottage, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s new Windsor home.
The taxpayer bill is likely to near the £3million mark once further work is completed.
