The worst of the torrential rain will hit South Wales and the south-west of England. An official warning is in place for South Wales where trains and buses could be disrupted. During the day the rain will move east enveloping much of England.
Met Office meteorologist Sophie Yeomans commented: “If you haven’t dug out your brolly yet you will be needing it for today.
“Even if you start off with bright weather the heavy rain will be arriving through the day and there are some weather warnings in place."
Scotland, Northern Ireland and much of northern England should start the day relatively dry, excluding a few showers, and sunny.
However heavy rain will strike south-western parts of Britain and continue throughout the day.
