Meghan Markle appears to have a fondness for black clothing, frequently wearing the colour to royal engagements. Most recently Meghan wore a Jason Wu black mesh panel flared dress to the Lion King premiere, where she accompanied her husband Prince Harry to the star-studded event. Royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams has revealed the monochrome colour choice, which he says the Duchess wears so “brilliantly”, is about “staying out of the limelight”.
Mr Fitzwilliams says Meghan often opts for black, plain clothing to not upstage the charity and people she supports during royal engagements, as he said otherwise “the dress can become the news”.
He told Express.co.uk: “Wearing black does two things, it allows the cause that she is supporting and the people she is meeting to be more prominent.
“It is a safer way to ensure things that want her support will get more prominence.”
He added that black is a “safe colour” and “tends to mean that more publicity is given to the cause and the people”.
