The Walking Dead left fans devastated in season nine as Rick Grimes (played by Andrew Lincoln) exited the show.
Despite rumours the character was going to be killed off, he was sent away on a helicopter, sparking three movies for the franchise.
Although Andrew is no-longer a part of the TV show, he was destined to return in season ten, with the actor telling Entertainment Weekly he would be back to direct an episode.
However, it seems things have changed as it has been reported the actor can't make things work for him to direct.
Andrew previously told fans: “I’m going back. I’m going back to shadow a director, and my intention is to direct next year.”
Now many will be disappointed to learn the publication is reporting Andrew can not direct as schedules “could not be aligned".
However, it's not all bad news for Andrew fans as they've been their first look at the Rick Grimes spin-off movies.
Over the weekend, The Walking Dead’s movies were touched upon by AMC at the annual San Diego Comic Con.
The first trailer for the films was shown with a silhouette of a city being approached by a helicopter.
In the background, the show's theme tune can be heard playing.
