Rugby World Cup 2019 fever is set to take over Japan as the tournament heads to Asia - and former player Shane Williams is the go-to for travel tips. The Welsh international legend, 42, spoke exclusively to Express.co.uk to share his must-visit places and tips for tourists either visiting during the sporting event, for any time of the year. After visiting the country in 2001 on a Welsh tour, he later moved there as a player-coach for three years, gushing he “loved the whole experience.” Despite being based in Tokyo Shane often visited Kobe and Osaka - key host venues for this year’s tournament - and the destinations which on his heart.
Revealing his passion as a foodie, and the top delicacies to try, he said: “I spent a lot of time in Tokyo but we had trips away with our club down to Osaka and Kobe mainly, they were our travelling venues.
“Osaka, wow it was great, I used to love it.
“I’m quite a foodie and I do enjoy trying new things out and going to the other side of the world to try food you will never get the opportunity to try anywhere else was quite unique.”
Pinning down the must-eat grub, he added: “The octopus balls, the noodles and the conveyor belt sushi there was just unreal.
“What I found about it too are people are so friendly - you never saw a grumpy chap.
