Charlotte Smith, 55 has been a regular fixture on the BBC series of Countryfile alongside her colleague Matt Baker, 46, Ellie Harrison, 41, Adam Henson, 53, Anita Rani, 41, and John Craven, 71, to name a few. The BBC series have recently ventured out with the annual showcase of Countryfile Live. Tens of thousands of people flocked to Castle Howard for the event last week. Celebrating country life, fans queued for meet and greets with the BBC presenters but Charlotte admitted she was not initially on board with the idea of the live event.

You’ve got to be kidding

Celebrating country life, fans queued for meet and greets with the BBC presenters but Charlotte admitted she was not initially on board with the idea of the live event.

The BBC Radio 4 Farming Today presenter revealed her first thoughts was “you’ve got to be kidding” when the event was pitched to her.

Speaking exclusively to Express.co.uk, Charlotte mused: “I thought you’ve got to be kidding.

“I was trying to describe it [Countryfile Live] to someone and I said it’s like the BBC show in 3D.”

She continued: “They asked ‘How is this going to work?’

“I said it’ll be like a country show, and a bit like this, and a bit like that but I said it’s not going to work.”
