The claim was made by biographer Andrew Morton in his book ‘Meghan: A Hollywood Princess’. During the funeral Prince Harry and Prince William joined Prince Charles in walking behind the carriage.
Harry was aged just 12 when the funeral took place on September 6 1997.
Princess Diana died on August 31 in a Paris car crash.
Mr Morton claimed Meghan was “devastated” by the death in his book.
He added she watched Diana’s funeral, during which “tears coursed down their cheeks” at a very touching moment.

This happened when cameras at the event focused on an envelope next to the coffin which had “Mummy” written on it.
It had been written by the young Prince Harry.
Mr Morton also said Meghan and her friends used to rewatch video from Diana and Charles’s 1981 wedding.
In his book he also claimed Meghan took inspiration from Diana, including in her charitable interests.
