Fred Sirieix has made a name for himself as one of the smoothest Maître d’hôtel’s on the planet. The First Dates Hotel favourite has become known for his inspiring advice and honest feedback.

The star is currently airing every Thursday, as viewers are following the journeys of some lucky singletons who have travelled to France to find love.

First Dates as a concept, started way back in 2013, and documented a bunch of couples meeting each other for the first time. Over 10 seasons, countless guests have been brave and shared their experiences with the camera, with some even finding love.

And with that being the point of it all, Fred has since spilled in an exclusive chat with Express.co.uk what it would take for the show to stop airing on Channel 4.

When asked what makes First Dates and it’s sister shows so popular, Fred explained: “I think people love the show and this is great. Whatever you do in life you’ve got to be associated with good things and good people you like and believe in. You can only do your best and work hard and you just don’t know when you’ve started and you do it with a vision in mind it’s got to be good.”

He continued to explain he didn’t know what the future would hold for it, adding: “I don’t have a crystal ball, I have no idea. As long as people find love when they are in the First Dates Hotel, then we will carry on. The day it doesn’t, we stop.”

But that would be a huge blow for dedicated fans of the show. Just look at Twitter while First Dates - in any capacity - is on and the popularity is evident; Fred even has his own emoji on the social media platform. Fans love him.

What makes Fred so special is he loves love. The Limoges-born waiter trained to work front of house in a Michelin-starred restaurant, before moving to London. He has since been dotted around several highly-regarded hotels.

As for the transition to television, it was all down to the concept. Fred recalled: “If I didn’t believe it I wouldn’t do the show. You know there’s a saying so you’ve fell in love and you smile because you knew. That’s how I met my wife and I think you fall in love but you decide to stay in love. Whether you stay in love is up to you, when life takes you different ways it’s important to remember what you are able to do. Everyone must have the common vision. The moment you don’t this is when people split.”

Of course, Fred has seen countless first dates go by and the star is always keen to share his top tips for love.
