Emily Bishop (played by Eileen Derbyshire) hasn’t been seen on the cobbles of Coronation Street for over three years, only ever referenced in hearsay by other residents. Viewers of the ITV soap have already seen the pensioner’s friend Norris Cole (Malcolm Haden) make a reappearance earlier this year, but they won’t have to wait too much longer to see the kind-hearted church-goer.
Since her departure from Weatherfield back in 2016, Emily certainly hasn’t been putting her feet up and relaxing as she’s ventured the many corners of the globe.
When she first left, the devoted christian joined her nephew Spider Nugent (Martin Hancock) in Peru to partake in some charity work.
It was Ken who revealed Emily was back in the country last year when he explained the pensioner was living in Edinburgh to look after her niece, Freda Burgess (Ali Briggs).
Making her own comeback to the cobbles alongside fiancé Norris earlier this year, Freda stated her auntie would be staying in Scotland for the foreseeable.

However, next week the pensioner does make a return in some form as Ken gets ready to celebrate a landmark birthday.
Before then, the soap stalwart is riddled with sadness when his son Daniel Osbourne (Rob Mallard) and his wife Sinead Tinker (Katie McGlynn) reveal some heartbreaking news.
Ken was planning on celebrating his 80th birthday in Venice with partner Claudia Colby (Rula Lenska) who was also paying for the rest of the Barlow family to join them abroad.
Recent scenes saw the couple agree to only go for a long weekend when Sinead discovered her cancer had returned.
