The Met Office has forecast heavy rain for the nation as the country is bombarded with heavy rain. The new weather front will result in unsettled weather for the rest of the week. As the wall of rain strikes the country there will be an increased chance of lightning storms and blustery winds.
Met Office forecaster Helen Roberts said: “Rather a soggy start to this new working week cloudy wet and windy for many of us first thing this morning.
“We have cloud and rain covering pretty much all of Scotland and much of Northern Ireland.
“Northwest England and Wales and the southwest of England to the best of any drier and brighter weather towards the southeast corner of the country but even here the rain will arrive by the end of the day.
“So this rain band continue to make steady progress eastward as the day progresses eventually reaching some central and southeastern parts of the country and then we start to see clearer skies.
