Highways England said the A1 in South Yorkshire has been closed in both directions between junction 34, near Blyth, and junction 35 at Alverley. The closure is due to flooding from heavy rainfall, with South Yorkshire Police and Highways England Traffic Officers currently attending the scene. The A1 in Nottinghamshire’s northbound carriage between the B6325 near North Muskham and the B1164 near Tuxford has also been closed due to standing water on the carriageway.

Highways England is currently working hard to reopen the carriageway.

Diversions are in place in both areas, but commuters have been warned that delays are likely.

At 7.29am Highways England posted on Twitter to confirm they are still dealing with issues caused by the flooding and will share information as soon as the road has been reopened.
