The Good Liar shows veteran actors Sir Ian McKellen and Dame Helen Mirren in a whole new light. The movie follows McKellen’s Roy as he tries to swindle a wealthy widow (played by Mirren) after finding her on a dating site. Those living in the UK do not have far to go to visit the filming locations for The Good Liar, as the whole movie was filmed here, with a great deal taking place in London.
One of the locations outside of the Big Smoke includes Gaddesden Place in Hertfordshire, a grand manor house who interiors were used to shoot scenes in the home of Hannalore Schroder, played by Lily Dodsworth Evans.
Some may recognise the house from Jonathan Creek or Foyle’s War, and the extraordinary house will most certainly been seen again in a period drama near you.
As well as this, Bovingdon Airfield in Hertfordshire were also used to film some of the historic action used in flashback scenes to 1949, and the special effects were put into place here to add the feeling of authenticity.
