Meghan Markle has emerged as one of the most influential fashion inspirations since her relationship with Prince Harry was confirmed in 2016. Much like Kate, Duchess of Cambridge, the Duchess of Sussex is known to have sparked an online frenzy among fashion fans eager to copy her looks whenever the royal steps out on an engagement. But British designer David Emanuel, who famously designed Princess Diana's iconic wedding dress, insisted Meghan has repeatedly committed a key mistake that is "not helping her."

Speaking to True Royalty TV, Mr Emanuel said: "She’s done a foot wrong in my books.
"I know it’s not all about frocks but it doesn’t help when her wedding gown is by Givenchy. When she wears Dior.
"If you think of Diana, she supported the British fashion industry all the way through her reign."
The fashion designer continued: "I know it’s not about frocks but she’s married into the Royal Family. She should step up and represent Britain around the world."

Earlier this year, fashion expert Lizzi Zita also urged the Duchess of Sussex to stop favouring French labels to help boost the British fashion industry through her influential role.
Ms Zita said: "We need to – Meghan, if you're watching – wear British fashion.
"Wear our labels, don’t always wear Dior. We love Dior but he is French – wear our labels.
"We need you to be like a figurehead for fashion. She is one of the most googled names in the world right now."
