It has been claimed that the twelfth season of The Walking Dead will be the last for the show. This is so the franchise can focus on the spin-offs Fear The Walking Dead and the upcoming untitled new spin off.
The AMC zombie drama is currently midway through a milestone tenth season.
However, according to TV sources close to the show, the series doesn’t have far left to go until it wraps for good.
According to website We Got This Covered, showrunner Scott Gimple will be turning his attention to spin-off series Fear the Walking Dead, which is currently on its sixth season.
A second spin-off is also on the cards, with the unnamed spin off set to focus on a whole new cast of teenagers caught up in the apocalypse, set in a completely different time frame.

This could also be a result of the hotly anticipated Rick Grimes (played by Andrew Lincoln) spin-off trilogy.
The trilogy was announced earlier on this year and the actor made a shock exit of the show in season nine.
This comes after the original source material came to a surprise end after creator Robert Kirkman announced issue 193 would be the last.
The show already seems to be on a path to it’s end after a radio call in season 10 seems to have hinted at the group finding the commonwealth, which is where the comic books ended.
