Many Strictly Come Dancing fans were in uproar over Shirley Ballas’ decision to send Alex Scott and Neil Jones home. Those tuning in saw Motsi Mabuse and Craig Revel Horwood opt to save the couple from elimination. However, as Burno Tonioli voted for Chris, it was down to the head judge to decide and fans weren’t happy were the reason she gave for sending the former Lioness home.

Tonight’s Strictly saw Shirley give the deciding vote as she chose to send Alex home.

It came after the couple were criticised on Saturday night for not including as much Samba content as they could in their Sister Act inspired routine.

This evening, Bruno reasserted his critique telling host Tess Daly: “Well it’s very hard and at this stage it’s going to get even harder but purely based on what I saw tonight I firmly believe that the stronger overall more convincing powerful entertaining couple is Chris and Karen.”

Shirley agreed with Bruno, explaining: “Well again this is a very, very difficult decision.
