Downton Abbey is the gift that keeps on giving, after the TV series moved to the big screen. The film followed the Crawley family as they welcomed the royal family into their home. After the revelation of “talks” being underway for a Downton Abbey 2, here is everything to know so far about the Downton Abbey sequel.

At present, no release date has even set as the film has not been officially confirmed.

In the case of Downton Abbey, it took around three years to move from talks to the big screen, based partly on the difficulties of getting such a mammoth cast of stars back together.

If this continues in a similar vein for the Downton Abbey sequel, the film will not hit our screens until late 2022, or even 2023.

Who is in the cast of Downton Abbey 2?

This is a tricky question, as different cast members have made different pledges around a second Downton Abbey film.

Allen Leech, who plays Tom Branson, has said he would be interested in doing a second, and has even suggested his castmates would feel the same.

Speaking to The Reporter around the film’s release, he said: “I think we would all be up for it. It all comes down to how this one does.
