Boris Johnson could face demands from the European Research Group (ERG) and One Nation Tories who want opposing consequences in the Prime Minister’s plan to leave on Janary 31 2020. This week on Express.co.uk’s Brexit: The Final Countdown podcast, host Rebecca Hutson was joined by Labour councillor and Brexit campaigner, Brendan Chilton. He explained there are fears Brexit won’t be done by the deadline as there are still divides over the deal.

Mr Chilton told Express.co.uk: “In terms of where we are, I always felt that having a general election to as the Conservatives say, ‘Get Brexit Done’ was daft.

“Although it’s the Tory line I’m yet to meet one Tory MP that actually think this election is going to get Brexit done.

“Whatever happens on December 12, if the Conservatives win by a majority by no measure is date of January 31 certain.

“That’s because if you get a small Conservative majority the ERG could play up because a lot of them privately are not happy with his deal at all.
