BBC host Andrew Neil counted out the amount of times Jo Swinson voted to put a cap on benefits, to introduce a bedroom tax and allow NHS contracts to go to private tenders. The Liberal Democrat leader then apologised and said it was wrong. Mr Neil asked: “So you’re promising to scrap the so-called bedroom tax. Who vote win times to introduce the bedroom tax?”

Speaking on BBC One’s Andrew Neil interview, Ms Swinson said: “Liberal Democrats in Government, including myself.

“Which I have previously said and I’m happy to say again, was wrong and I’m sorry about that.

“It was one of the things that we did get wrong.”
