BBC host Andrew Neil chuckled as he read out Ms Swinson’s declining popularity ratings during the December general election trail. Jo Swinson defended her decision and said polling says otherwise. Mr Neil asked: “Why is it the more voters get to know you the less they like you?”


Speaking on BBC One’s Andrew Neil interview, Ms Swinson said: “I don’t know why, I’ve seen polls that say things slightly different to that.
“Do you know what Andrew, I’m in this election, I’m in politics because I want to change things.
“I want to Remain in the European Union and I’m going to stand up for those things that I believe in.”
Mr Neil interjected: “Your approval rating at the start of the campaign was -20, it’s now -31.
