Jeremy Corbyn was forced to defend his economic plans during the BBC debate. Boris Johnson said: “As I say we will be making substantial investments in the fiscal headroom that we have but whilst bearing down on our debt. But what we won’t do is rack up such debts you end up with huge tax burdens falling on everybody else.
“Labour always ends its time in office with an economic crisis.
“Corbyn and McDonnell would start their time in office with an economic crisis.”
Host Nick Robinson added: “Mr Corbyn he says all of us will pay more in our taxes, not just the rich and the independent think tank like the Institute for Fiscal Studies agree.”
