Tonight’s instalment of Countryfile saw Adam Henson introduce his bull Archie to another farmer as he moves to a new home after fathering several cows on his farm. Viewers knew Adam would have to say goodbye to Archie but tonight saw the bull’s future sealed.

After telling viewers he will be checking to see if his ewes are pregnant in early 2020, he revealed Archie’s next move.

He began: “Sadly, that’s not the same for Archie my highland bull. It’s time for him to move on pastures new.

“Because he has fathered all of the heffas on the farm, we’ve got to sell him on to an unrelated herd so he can carry on his duties.”

“He’s really caught the eye of Tim Hayes, who farms just up the road,” Adam added.

Adam and Tim could be seen inspecting Archie to see if he would fit in with the herd on Tim’s farm.

“He came from the balmoral estate and he has good breeding,” the farmer explained.

“He’s been a big part of my life really. I have loved having him around on the farm.

“He does have a great temperament and that’s important to us too.
