Stormzy, 26, joined BBC Breakfast hosts Dan Walker, 42, and Louise Minchin, 51, in the midst of his publicity campaign for his new album, Heavy In My Head. However, the singer was less than conventional when it came to his choice of footwear and moments into his interview, discussion turned to what he was wearing and viewers of the BBC news show immediately took to social media as they went into a frenzy.

After showing a clip of his latest single, Own It, Dan and Louise were seen seated with Stormzy in the studio.

Eagle-eyed viewers would have been able to notice the rapper was in fact wearing slippers after arriving slightly late for the interview.

However, it wasn’t just those watching at home who picked up on the footwear as the Match Of The Day star also addressed his choices.

Before they dived into discussion about music and politics, Dan said: “Can I say, first up, those slippers are magnificent.”

Explaining his faux pas, the guest told the hosts: “I forgot. I’m an idiot. I forgot.”

Startled by the revelation, Dan asked Stormzy as he tried to get clarification: “What, forgot your shoes?”

Responding to the comical situation, the musician stated: “Yeah. Which sounds mad. We’ve been doing signings.

“I did a signing in Bristol and we’ve got a signing tonight.”
