Xbox Series X launch and PS5 release date are two of the biggest gaming events of this year. The new PlayStation and Xbox consoles will go head-to-head for sales as they are scheduled to release around the same time. Both the PS5 and Xbox Series X are pencilled in for a holiday 2020 launch.
And when the new PlayStation and Xbox consoles do hit shops it may turn out that Microsoft has a big price advantage over Sony.
According to one analyst the PS5 and Xbox Series X are expected to have “similar” price points.
That’s interesting as alleged leaks specs have claimed the Xbox Series X will be more powerful than the PS5.
According to the specs, the PS5 GPU may be 9.2 teraflops while the Xbox Series X may be 12 teraflops.

If the Xbox Series X is more powerful than the PS5, but costs a similar amount, then that may give Microsoft’s console an edge to prospective buyers.
And that’s not the only price advantage the next-gen Xbox may have.
Leaks have indicated that Microsoft may be planning a lower priced next-gen Xbox that will make the entry cost for the next-gen much more affordable.
That is a tact that Piers Harding-Rolls, from IHS Markit Technology, expects Microsoft to use at the start of the next-gen.
And the analyst added that he does not expect Sony to follow suit with this pricing model on day one.
