Despite not being officially confirmed by the BBC, production on the sixth season of the hit gangster show has already begun.
After becoming a CBE in the Queen’s New Year Honours list, writer Knight confirmed to the BBC he has finished writing the entire outing.

While these turned out to simply be rumours, the producers did tell Metro.co.uk filming was expected in the New Year.
They told the publication: “They’ve not started filming yet. Sorry. It won’t be until some point in the new year.”
This all follows season six director Anthony Byrne speaking on the BBC’s Obsessed With Peaky Blinders podcast about the potential release date.
He said in October 2019: “I start later this year and then we shoot next year and I have no idea when it would be out, maybe early 2021, something like that?”
