Vikings season 6: What happened to Gunnhild? Does Gunnhild die?

VIKINGS season 6 has now come to an end and the second half of the series will start again in December. The last episode included a huge battle, and fans are wondering what happened to Gunnhild at the end.

Fans of Vikings on Amazon Prime have come to love the strong and brave Gunnhild (played by Ragga Ragnars). She is known as the Mother of Kings and is married to king of Kattegat Bjorn Ironside (Alexander Ludwig). In the battle against the Rus, she was badly injured and fans are wondering if she is dead.

In the final episode of the series called The Best Laid Plans, Prince Oleg (Danila Kozlovsky) launches an attack on Scandinavia.

Bjorn and King Harald (Peter Franzén) try and fight him and Ivar the Boneless (Alex Høgh Andersen).

As a legendary shield maiden Gunnhild steps up to the fight and leads a group of warriors to battle.

She takes control of guarding the river so Oleg’s boats cannot pass through.

Vikings season 6: Who died in the real battle against the Rus?

However, fans were left holding their breath in fear as Gunnhild came close to death in the fight.

She came face to face with Ivar and Oleg as their ship breaks through the defences.

Even though she has just suffered a miscarriage and lost Bjorn’s child, she did not hold back in the fight.

But towards the end of the scene she ended up being severely wounded in her side.
