Season five of Outlander has now arrived on the Starz app and will be airing on the American network over the week. The series will be airing on Amazon Prime early next week. The forthcoming run is expected to be a tumultuous one but what happened in the last series?
In order to get the land for Fraser's Ridge, Jamie Fraser (played by Sam Heughan) pledged his allegiance to the crown.

Brianna Fraser (Sophie Skelton) up and left her life in Boston and went to Inverness, where she went through the stones.
Roger MacKenzie (Richard Rankin) swiftly went after her, knowing she was the one he wanted to be with.
They reunited in the past and got handfasted in a ceremony akin to a wedding.
However, afterwards, the hot-headed pair got into an argument and Roger left Brianna.
Roger went off to find work and was in the employ of Stephen Bonnet (Ed Speleers).

After she was left alone in the past, Brianna encountered pirate Stephen Bonnet and noticed he'd stolen her mother's wedding ring.
Brianna went to retrieve it from Bonnet but sadly was brutally raped by the pirate.
She was left broken and lost in the past but through some miracle, she was reunited with her father Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan) as well as her mother.
They all went to Fraser's Ridge and Brianna revealed what had happened to her, much to the anger of the family and her cousin Young Ian (John Bell).
Brianna found out she'd fallen pregnant with Bonnet's child and decided she wanted to keep the baby.
Brianna went to stay with her Great Aunt Jocasta (Maria
