Fans were left on the edge of their seats after Outlander season four finished on a cliffhanger, as British soldiers barged into the Fraser household to give Jamie Fraser (played by Sam Heughan) an unexpected order. He was tasked with finding and killing escaped convict Murtagh (Duncan Lacroix) but fans of the Starz and Amazon Prime show will have to wait and see what the Scotsman decides.
Starz has confirmed Jamie Fraser who won everyone’s hearts back in season one will be back for the fifth season.
Him and wife Claire are the main characters in the series and started off the story as she travelled back in time to 1743 and fell in love with him.
Talking about initially getting the part in Outlander, actor Sam Heughan told Vulture: “You’re up for so many things, and coming from those auditions and testing on other shows, I had more experience, more experience with the process.
“And maybe I was more confident. And I don’t know, something about this one just felt right.
“This part felt different. I knew this character. I felt a connection with him. I knew where he had come from.”
Besides Outlander, Heughan has been in River City and Doctors.

Jamie’s other half Claire Fraser - who started off in the show as Claire Randall - will also be back.
Actress Balfe most recently starred in The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance.
