It’s not easy to dress in a way that fulfils royal protocol while also looking stylish. However, Kate Middleton’s secret as to how she manages to tick both these boxes has been slowly revealed over the past few years. While the Duchess of Cambridge is known for wearing high street styles, in a down to earth move for a member of the Royal Family, she has a trick up her sleeve.
The Duchess employs seamstresses to make alterations to her garments, to ensure they are perfect.
Today was no exception. Kate Middleton wore a stunning green print dress from Alessandra Rich.
The garment, from the brands SS20 Ready to Wear collection, is the Crepe de Chine rose print pleated dress with a peplum.
The dress also appears to have a high thigh split on the website, which is not so dramatic on the Duchess’s dress today.

It is likely a seamstress has added a stitch to the leg, to make the dress appropriate for a diplomatic occasion.
This is the latest in a number of similar clever tweaks.
Kate also adjusted another Alessandra Rich dress, a red number worn for A Berry Royal Christmas in December last year.
The original gown had a keyhole neck, and a high thigh split, but the Duchess of Sussex had both of these removed from the garments.
In the same month Kate adjusted an Emilia Wickstead design, removing sheer sleeves and placing them with tartan sleeves.
At an evening reception for members of the Diplomatic Corps at Buckingham Palace on 11 December she wore an Alexander McQueen dress modified in velvet.
