Piers Morgan leaves #GMB viewers in turmoil as they urge him to return to show

Piers Morgan, 55, was nowhere to be seen today, with Good Morning Britain left in the hands of Susanna Reid, 49, and his replacement, Ben Shephard, 45. The host is known for his straight-talking approach with guests, including politicians, which some ITV viewers seem to appreciate as the country is gripped by the current coronavirus outbreak. However, they were urging him to come back and front the show for the foreseeable so they could get the answers they wanted from leading figures.

Since he joined the programme in a permanent role in 2015, the presenter has hosted three of the five weekly editions of the broadcaster’s flagship news show.

This has meant numerous stand-ins have filled Piers’ role for Thursday and Fridays, alongside Susanna or another colleague, due to the conditions of his contract.

When the latter has her days off, she is usually replaced by stars such as Kate Garraway, 52, or Charlotte Hawkins, 44.

Morgan’s absence from today’s show has left those watching at home in turmoil as they want him to be in the studio every weekday.

Another added: “@piersmorgan as we are on lockdown, do you think you could do @GMB more than 3 days a week. The British public need your honesty at this time of national emergency.”

Whilst a third commented: “As much as I love @benshephard on @GMB I do really miss @piersmorgan on a Thursday and Friday.

“Pleeeeease could you do 5 day weeks Piers?! At least while this crisis is going on, your country needs you! #staysafe all of you, you’re all doing an amazing job x,” they continued.
