#Strictly's Shirley Ballas teases royal signing for 2020 line-up -- 'Not ...

Shirley Ballas, 59, and her fellow Strictly Come Dancing judges are gearing themselves up for the 2020 season of the popular dance show, which is set to return this Autumn. The rumour mill is already going into overdrive on which famous faces will be unveiled as part of the first socially distanced version of the BBC dance show. Although there have been quite a few contestants in the past who have had connections to the monarch, a member of the royal household has never competed on the show. However, the head judge believes this year could be the time for one of the “younger” members of the family to take part.

With the popular Saturday night show having won Best Entertainment Programme at this year’s Virgin Media BAFTA Television Awards 2020, Shirley teased who she wanted to see on the line-up.

Speaking with Express.co.uk and other press, the professional dancer said: “Well, I think it would be lovely for one of the younger royals [to take part].

“I mean, the world is changing, let’s face it. We’ve even seen The Queen on Zoom, so it would be lovely to have a younger royal on the show.

“And I know so many of the Royal Family - because I’ve met them - are such fans of the show. It brings joy to their evenings.

“So, let’s wait and see,” the head judge continued, before being asked which members of the monarchy watched the show.

With the head judge giving no names away, could it be the show has signed its first-ever member of the Royal Family to take part this year?

Earlier this year, it was reported three members of the monarchy were on the bosses agenda to sign up in the future.

According to Mirror Online, this included Zara Tindall, 39, her husband Mike Tindall, 41, and Sarah Ferguson, 60.
