Good Morning Britain presenter Piers Morgan, 55, has clarified his comments about Sam Fender’s concert after the singer shouted “f**k Piers Morgan” as he took to the stage to perform. The Hypersonic Missiles hitmaker appeared in Gosforth Park in Newcastle earlier this week for the UK's first socially distanced gigs at the Virgin Money Unity Arena.
Gig promoters SD Concerts said the safety of the audience is being protected, with each viewing platform having its own table, chairs and fridge.
People from the same household will arrive at the venue and enjoy the concert from their own private area.
However, after seeing images of the event, Piers branded the concept “sooooo weird” in view of his 7.6 million Twitter followers.
As a result of the journalist’s comment, Sam told the crowd in his second sell-out show: "Geordies making history here but I heard Piers Morgan had a bit to say about it."

The audience then jeered at the mention of the television personality before the performer added: “F**k Piers Morgan."
Piers spotted the Geordie singer’s swipe and admitted his assessment of the concert being “weird” was in reference to the way the crowd looked due to the coronavirus pandemic.
He retweeted an article about the situation and cheekily hit back: “Pop stars abusing me on stage again feels like a much-needed dose of normality in these turbulent times.
