Strictly Come Dancing's 2015 winner Jay McGuiness, 30, has spoken out for the first time about a tricky time he went through with his family while on the BBC competition. The Wanted star revealed his former dance partner Aliona Violani, 36, stepped in to help him during the "toughest week" in which someone close to him died.
I was pretty unwilling to talk about it.
After Jay was asked about his hardest moment competing on Strictly, the performer revealed to Express.co.uk he has been "unwilling" to talk about the situation until now.
"Interesting you ask that right now because one of my family members passed away," he divulged.
"And I was pretty unwilling to talk about it on the show."
He added: "And I was not feeling ready to perform a really happy cheesy number.

"With Aliona’s help, she convinced the producers to mix things around - let me do something that I felt I was able to do."
Jay, who didn't divulge who had died, went on to say: "I'll always remember that and be super grateful. That was probably the toughest week though."
It comes after Jay's former bandmate Max George was announced as one of this year's celebrity contestants.
