The Last Kingdom is now on season four on Netflix and a fifth season will be arriving in the near future. In the meantime, fans have been sharing their theories regarding characters from previous seasons, like Uhtred's (played by Alexander Dreymon) first wife Mildrith (Amy Wren). Some fans believe Mildrith may have killed her own child, and Express.co.uk has investigated the theory.
Mildrith made an appearance in The Saxon Stories by Bernard Cornwell, on which the Netflix series is based.
She first appeared in season one of The Last Kingdom, as Uhtred of Bebbanburg's first wife.
Their marriage had been arranged as part of a deal which saw Uhtred gain control of some land, and the couple did not get along due to their conflicting beliefs.
However after several months of marriage Mildrith fell pregnant and she is left alone to have the baby while Uhtred is away fighting Danes.
Mildrith gave birth to a boy in Winchester, who was also named Uhtred, and she wanted him to be baptised.

Her husband Uhtred refused and said he would disown his son if he returned to find him baptised.
When Uhtred returned, he found out his son was dead and Mildrith had told him it was because children are frail.
They do not seem to discuss the child's death any further and some fans believe Mildrith killed him herself.
Grizwald 87 said on Reddit: "I know the book handles it differently, but when I watched season one, my impression is that in the show's world, Mildrith committed infanticide, and killed hers/Uhtred's child.
"When Uhtred discovers his son's grave, Iseult says 'this was no longer home for her', and that's hella true.
