Channel 4's Danni Menzies was tasked with finding Larraine and Gary’s new forever home in the countryside of the Charente in Western France. The A Place in the Sun expert had a tough wish list to follow as the couple were interested in a property with an area they could rent out. However, when Gary made a suggestion about how they could remodel one house, Danni issued a warning to the hopeful buyer.
Larraine and Gary were interested in retiring to France as they hoped to spend more time outdoors enjoying a better quality of life.
They wanted to find a traditional house with plenty of character for their budget of £100,000.
The couple were also interested in renting out a self-contained gîte but were willing to consider renovation work if the budget allowed.
For their first property, Danni showed them a four-bed house in Oradour-Fanais but instantly the couple failed to warm to the house.

The property came with a garage which Gary suggested could be converted into accommodation.
But Danni hit back: “Don’t go there,” before explaining she already had a place in mind for a gîte.
The property expert revealed the house had dedicated space which could be used for accommodation but the couple wasn’t impressed overall with the property.
However, it wasn’t long before Danni found a place that the couple loved as the second property offered pretty much everything they were looking for.
