Denise Welch, 62, said farewell to her followers, as she admitted needing a “break” from the social media site after a tense couple of weeks online. The Loose Women star described her last few tweets as an attempt to “balance fear” from the media and their statistics on coronavirus.

Denise wrote: “Guys I’ve decided to take a break from here.
“I hope I’ve helped balance the fear the media seems determined to continue.
“Just look at the data, ask questions and look after your loved ones.
“I’m on Instagram denise_welch,” she added.

Her followers left a series of comments under the post, as they weighed in on her departure.
One said: ”Thank you for everything Denise, you must be exhausted speaking out for common sense in the current sea of craziness. See you over on Instagram.”
Another replied: “I watched your interview with Eamonn & Ruth. You are so passionate about fair & balanced media reporting & are an amazing advocate for mental health focus in the UK. I think you are brilliant & a real inspiration! Bad things happen when good people don’t speak up. Well done.”
