Harry and his wife Meghan Markle gave up their lives as senior members of the Royal Family earlier this year when they voluntarily stepped back from the limelight. In search of greater autonomy, they wanted to become financially independent of the Firm and move away from the world of royal protocol. The pair gave up the use of their HRH titles — while Harry also had to let go of his military appointments — and agreed to spend the majority of their time in North America from now onwards.
The Sussexes have since bought a lavish mansion in Santa Barbara, California, and signed a historic contract with Netflix to produce documentaries on causes close to their hearts.
They reportedly no longer accept an allowance from Prince Charles’ private income, the Duchy of Cornwall, either.
In just six months, the couple have established a completely different life on the other side of the Atlantic.
Yet, royal commentator Ingrid Seward claimed this month that she was “still surprised” that the Duke of Sussex had been willing to leave the UK.

She said: “I know he has always hated the media and quite often hated being a prince, but I never thought he would leave his homeland.
“He’s always been such a lover of British life, polo, the countryside, the shooting, Scotland.
“That said, with Harry it’s all or nothing, and it always has been.
“He doesn’t do anything by halves. He’s always done things differently.

“As a boy, people at the palace would say, ‘Harry’s Harry, he does his own thing,’ and he always has.”
