People have long claimed to have had profound religious experiences following a near-death experience, and a person known only as Ben B believes he had one. Following a cardiac arrest, the witness was clinically “dead” after “cessation of heart function”. But before he was revived, Ben believes he enjoyed the “entirely pleasant” experience of the afterlife.
He said: “I knew I was about to faint, so I sat down on a bench in the [high school] commons.
I immediately found myself in a white room
"The next thing I know is that the [Emergency Medical Services] EMS were above me working on me.
“I saw them put the defibrillator pads on my chest and saw that they were about to administer the shock. I passed out again.
"It was then that things took a profoundly religious turn."

Ben said he immediately found himself in a "pitch white" room, adding: "I heard the quietest quiet I had ever heard.
“It was the most peace I had ever felt, just like the peace I felt when I was four when an angel had comforted me."
This reportedly happened following a 45-minute emergency procedure in which Ben's blood sugar dropped to critical levels.
He carried on to say: “I was in this pitch white room in front of a big mirror.
