Eddie Van Halen, the co-founder of Van Halen, is reported to have died at St. Johns Hospital in Santa Monica on Tuesday with his wife Janie by his side. His heartbroken son Wolf announced the news of his father's death on Twitter this evening.
My heart is broken and I don’t think I’ll ever fully recover from this loss.

He wrote: "I can’t believe I’m having to write this, but my father, Edward Lodewijk Van Halen, has lost his long and arduous battle with cancer this morning.
"He was the best father I could ever ask for.
"Every moment I’ve shared with him on and off stage was a gift. My heart is broken and I don’t think I’ll ever fully recover from this loss.
"I love you so much, Pop."

The Dutch-American musician had been battling cancer for over a decade.
According to TMZ, he had been in and out of hospital over the past year and recently underwent a round of chemo.
The publication added Eddie flew between the US and Germany for five years to get radiation treatment.
Eddie’s former band mate David Lee Roth spoke out about the late star’s throat cancer battle in January.
In a discussion about the pair doing music together again, he told Las Vegas-Review Journal: “Ed’s not doing well, and singing and dancing is a perishable skill.”
The late guitarist battled several issues with his health throughout his career.
