A Place In The Sun star Amanda Lamb shares financial struggle to get dream home

A PLACE IN THE SUN star Amanda Lamb has revealed the financial difficulty that came with her latest move, which saw her purchase her dream second home in Devon.

Amanda Lamb, 48, quipped that she had to "sell several kidneys” to be able to purchase the stunning coastal property for her family to enjoy as a holiday home. The former A Place In The Sun presenter said that the family fell “in love” with the residence immediately upon viewing it, and knew they had to find a way to afford it.

It's our little escape route

Amanda exclusively told Express.co.uk: “We fell in love with it (the property) instantly, and had to sell several kidneys to afford it. 

“But we love it and it’s our little escape route. We take off down there at the weekends. We build fires and go rock pooling and just generally not do an awful lot.”

Amanda spent the beginning of this year renovating the property to give it a modern feel and reduce the dampness caused by the coastal location.

She continued: “Our home in Devon, one whole wall is cliff… as dramatic and beautiful as that is, it is also incredibly damp.

“So when we bought the cottage we ripped most of it out and the kitchen was the last thing standing. We took the decision at the beginning of the year to rip out the kitchen, but it took three months for the concrete floor to dry out."

The family had planned to spend more time there this year to work on renovations, but their plans were scrapped owing to the recent coronavirus lockdown.

Amanda explained: “Obviously lockdown happened and so we’re only just kind of  getting down there to enjoy it.
