RUTH LANGSFORD - who hosts This Morning with her husband Eamonn Holmes - has taken to Instagram to defend herself after an awkward mishap she made while presenting a show earlier in her career was unearthed.

Ruth Langsford, 60, has addressed an error she made while presenting a travel show after a clip of the awkward moment was unearthed by an Instagram account. The This Morning presenter shared the funny video in view of her 966,000 followers this evening and insisted she didn’t mean to make the cheeky innuendo at the time.

In the clip, Ruth can be heard saying, “nice pussy,” before bursting into a fit of giggles and adding, “cat, cat! Pussy cat!”

A caption posted alongside the video read: “Ruth knows a nice pussy when she sees one.”

Ruth spoke out about the throwback video and defended her surprising choice of words with a bit of context.

She wrote: “ANOTHER clip from my many presenting jobs over the 30 years I’ve been on TV....this was a travel show and I was referring to a big, beautiful lion we’d just been watching...honest!!”

Fortunately, the star saw the funny side of her mistake and thanked the Instagram page for posting the clip.

She added: “Thank you @hunsnet for digging this one out! #throwbackthursday #travelshow #bigcats.”

It wasn’t long before fans took to the comments section of Ruth’s post to laugh along with her about the situation.

One person wrote: “Absolutely hilarious butter wouldn't melt.”
