BOURNE Grammar School was evacuated following a suspicious phone call, with Lincolnshire police moving staff and students to safety.

Pupils were taken outside onto the playing fields of Bourne Grammar School in South Road, Bourne, at around 11am, a parent of one of the students told the Rutland and Stamford Mercury. Inspector Gary Stewart, of Lincolnshire Police, said there were a number of police officers at the school. He said: "We are responding to an incident at the school and have a number of officers at the scene."

A spokesperson for Lincolnshire Police later added: “We are in attendance at Bourne Grammar School in South Road, Bourne, following a call this morning reporting a suspicious phone call to the school.

“Emergency services are in attendance, and as a precautionary measure, all pupils and staff at the school have been safely evacuated.

“Members of the public should avoid the area while emergency services attend.
