Computer game fans are in for a treat after streaming giant Netflix announced plans to turn Assassin’s Creed into a television series. US entertainment site Deadline reported how Netflix and Ubisoft have entered into a deal, which will see the streaming platform developing an anime series. But Netflix is also planning to make a live-action show as well as it creates an Assassin’s Creed universe on television.
Netflix executive Peter Friedlander said: “We’re excited to partner with Ubisoft and bring to life the rich, multi-layered storytelling that Assassin’s Creed is beloved for.
“From its breath-taking historical worlds and massive global appeal as one of the best selling video game franchises of all time, we are committed to carefully crafting epic and thrilling entertainment based on this distinct IP and provide a deeper dive for fans and our members around the world to enjoy.”
From the sounds of it, these projects are in early development, so there’s no release date at the moment.

However, the coronavirus pandemic has created much uncertainty, so it’s not yet known if the global health crisis could have an impact.
Hopefully, the series could be released at some point in 2021 at the earliest but it seems the show is in the early stages of development.
Netflix's announcement about an anime series comes as the streamer plans to ramp up its content in the genre.
Among the anime titles, Netflix is working on Rilakkuma’s Theme Park Adventure, Thermae Romae Novae, High-Rise Invasion and Thus Spoke Kishibe Rohan, and The Way of the Househusband.
The news comes as it was announced earlier this year Netflix is developing a Resident Evil television series for fans.
