GUY VERHOFSTADT has been mocked on Twitter after backing Joe Biden in the US election.

The Belgian MEP took to social media to insist it would be better for the European Union if Mr Biden wins the election on Tuesday. But the post prompted a strong reaction from other Twitter users, with many suggesting the endorsement from arch-Remainer Mr Verhofstadt was not a good thing for Donald ’s rival.

One wrote: “Wrong again Guy…”

Another commented: “You need to wind in your neck.”

A third added: “As if needed any more help. #brexit.”

Another mocked: “More likely to lose with you backing him now.”

A fifth said: “You are always good at picking winners.

“Hilary Clinton, No Brexit, then even campaigning with the Liberal Democrats at last years UK General Election.

“You are the kiss of the death. Keep up the good work though.”

But others agreed with Mr Verhofstadt, with one commenting: “I am with you on this 100%.”
