Kate Garraway’s husband Derek has been battling coronavirus since March and has slowly making progress since he was put into an induced coma earlier this year. Speaking on Good Morning Britain today with Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid, Kate detailed how Derek told doctors he was in “pain” as they moved his body to stop him from seizing up.
Kate explained: “He has during the whole course of it, all the medical teams who have done such incredible work to keep him with us, have been very respectful and always talked to him as if he can hear everything, as I have, as the children have, as his mum and dad have.
“We’ve kept on talking to him and they say, ‘We’re just going to move your arm, we’re just going to move your leg.’
“That’s part of the process so he doesn’t seize up frankly and every time they said ‘Let’s us know if you’ve got discomfort, let us know if you’ve got any pain.’
“And they did this, and he very clearly mouthed the word ‘pain.’”
