Grand Designs tonight sees couple Greg and Georgie try and convert a rotting barn into their dream property. The couple try and take on as much of the work themselves as possible at the barn, in affluent Sevenoaks, Kent, but come up against unexpected budget issues.

The couple are left devastated when the groundwork for the project comes in at £80,000, a third of their entire budget. Even more worryingly, if the building needs underpinning, it will cost a further £20,000.
Host Kevin McCloud, who has overseen hundreds of successful builds on the show, offered advice for those looking to start their own Grand Designs style project.
He said: "Well I’d give them the advice that I give to all of our self builders, and that is that if you have an idea of what you want to build, and where you’re going to do it, then get yourself an architect who shares the same view of the world as you do.
"Don’t think it’s a waste of money, it’s not, because they will deliver you savings in the building, they’ll deliver you Beauty and joy, and an experience of living in it which is way beyond what you expected.”
